What is Mailox?
Mailox is hosted business email for your own domain. You get mailboxes like [email protected], a webmail, spam and virus filtering, delivery reports and guided DNS setup, for one flat monthly price.
Do I need to own a domain?
Yes. Mailox puts email on a domain you already own, bought from any registrar. The setup screen shows exactly which DNS records to add and checks them for you.
How is Mailox priced?
Each plan has one flat monthly price that covers a set number of mailboxes, not a price per user. Paying yearly gives you two months free. You can change plans at any time.
How do I pay, and can I cancel?
You pay by card through Polar, our payment provider, monthly or yearly. From the Billing page you can change plan, update your card, download invoices or cancel; a canceled plan keeps working until the end of the period you paid for.
Can I use my own mail app?
Yes. Mailox works with any app that supports IMAP and SMTP, including Apple Mail, Outlook, Thunderbird and the mail apps on iPhone and Android. Setup details are shown in the dashboard ready to copy.
Can I move my existing email to Mailox?
Yes. Your current provider keeps working until you switch the MX record. You can copy old messages across with any mail app that supports IMAP.
Where is my email stored?
On servers in the EU (Finland), with daily backups kept for seven days. Mailbox passwords are stored encrypted.
Will my emails land in spam?
Mailox sets up SPF, DKIM and DMARC for every domain, which is what receiving servers check to trust your mail. It also sends a test message so you can confirm it reaches the inbox.
Is Mailox an alternative to Google Workspace or Microsoft 365?
For email, yes. Mailox focuses only on email at your domain and charges a flat price per plan instead of per user, which usually costs less for teams.
